Chilliwack's Valley Huskers are in need of more billet families for the 2025 season, and they need them soon.
The football club is expecting their out-of-town players throughout June, and are hoping a few more local Chilliwack families will open their doors for them. The players are aged 17-22, and leave their homes to pursue their career in Canadian football.
Billet families host a player from July to October or November, and must provide a private room and groceries to feed their billet guest. In exchange, billet families receive $800 a month to help with these costs. Billet families also receive season passes for all home games, for the entire family.
Billet families are given support and guidance from the club's head coach, billet coordinators and organization throughout the season. They are expected to include the player into their family and life, including events, day trips and meals.
"Many players and families build a relationship and positive connection on and off the field often beyond their football career," their website states. "Host families not only support your local football team, but gain a love for the game through the eyes of your billeted athlete."
