A roadside stop by Trail RCMP on Friday afternoon led to the recovery of a stolen trailer and the arrest of an allegedly prohibited driver.
At about 4:30 p.m. on May 23, an officer was patrolling downtown Trail in an unmarked vehicle when he noticed a truck and trailer having trouble maintaining speed and staying in its lane.
The officer pulled the vehicle over for a traffic stop along Victoria Street.
The driver, a 50-year-old man from Kelowna, was found to be allegedly prohibited from driving in B.C.
According to police, further checks revealed the trailer had been reported stolen.
The man was arrested for driving while prohibited and later released pending a future court date.
Police impounded the truck for a week.
The trailer was seized, along with a small quantity of a substance suspected to be illicit drugs.
RCMP say the investigation into the stolen trailer is ongoing.
“Trail RCMP, in partnership with BC Highway Patrol, will continue to patrol our roads and highways this summer in an effort to make them safer for everyone,” said Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
