Chilliwack teens with original music wanted for songwriting contest

Young musicians are wanted for an upcoming contest in Chilliwack with a chance to win cash prizes.

The Optimist Club of Chilliwack is hosting its annual Teen Songwriting Contest on May 15.

Talented teens in Grades 7 to 12, who enjoy writing and performing their original songs, can enter.

Those interested can email optimistclubofchwk@gmail.com with 'Song Writing Contest' in the subject line. Teens must include their name, date of birth, school they attend, email and phone number. The first 10 entries will be accepted into the contest and teens will be emailed the official rules and contest information. 

All of the 10 contestants will win a prize ranging from $50 to $300.

The Teen Songwriting Contest is on Thursday, May 15 at the Lions Hall (45580 Spadina Ave.). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the contest starts at 7 p.m. This event is open to the public and free to attend.
