Editor,
In response to Robert Winston's rather naive "open letter" in your paper in which he wants to shut down Canada's fossil fuels to save the world. Let's assume he's right that cutting the world's carbon footprint would help ease global warming.
Canada acting alone, with only about one per cent of the world's human generated carbon output, will have no effect.
But, if Canada were to replace Asia's massive carbon output from dirty oil and coal with relatively clean liquefied natural gas, there might be hope. And this would have the added benefit of giving Canada the financial resources to underwrite renewable energy projects for domestic consumption.
