LETTER: Are David Eby and John Rustad the fox and the wolf?

B.C's. Bill 14 and 15 prompt this North Delta resident to share some thoughts

This writer takes aim at BC NDP Premier David Eby and BC Conservative Party Leader John Rustad over Bill 14 and 15.

Editor,

May 28 will be marked as a black day in the history of British Columbia as Premier David Eby and his NDP government let us down by passing bills that are aimed to fast track resource industry projects in the name of trade war.

Not only his retinue showed complete arrogance, it strangulated the wishes of First Nations who were opposing the bills.

On one hand, the NDP government tries to take credit for implementing United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, while on the other it conveniently ignores the calls made by the indigenous leadership.

That said, Rustad didn’t do any favour by simply voting against the bills in order to fall the government. We all know his party has people who even deny the history of the residential schools.

This whole affair reminds us of what Black resistance movement leader Malcom X had once said in relation to Democrats and Republicans across the border. He had said that one is a fox and the other is a wolf, but both want to eat us in the end.
