A house in the 12000-block of Coulthard Road in Surrey's Panorama Ridge neighbourhood has been the target of two recent shots fired incidents. Police said it is now being investigated as an extortion file Tuesday (June 3).

Surrey police have confirmed they're investigating two recent shootings at the same home as an extortion file.

Surrey Police Service installed a large, solar-powered tower and trailer featuring surveillance cameras at the property — located in the 12000-block of Coulthard Road — after the first shooting, which happened early in the morning of Tuesday, May 13.

The cameras were in place prior to the second incident, which occurred Sunday, May 25, also at around 3 a.m.

While footage of the second shooting has since emerged in one media report, SPS Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton noted it was not police footage.

"We have (the footage) and we have not released it publicly. They've obtained it through other means ... that's homeowner's footage, where those cameras are," he said Tuesday (June 3).

He confirmed police are now investigated the incidents as extortion-related.

"Now the investigation is just over a week in, we can now confirm we are investigating it as an extortion file at this time."

Houghton said there is no indication the incidents at the Panorama Ridge house are connected to "any other incidents in the Lower Mainland or anywhere else."

"SPS is in contact with not only all the other local police agencies who are also investigating extortion-related files, we're also in contact with agencies in other parts of the country as well," said Houghton.
