The Friends of the Library group will join up with the Sunfest celebrations once again on Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7, and will lay out thousands of books of interest for Castlegar readers.

The Sunfest parade will pass by the Castlegar Library so all you have to do is step into the library, find the basement gathering of astonishing books, and decide to secure a few books for yourself.

The semi-annual book sale will be open for business from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

All books have either been donated by patrons or taken out of circulation by the library. All you have to do is make a small donation and take as many books as you are interested in.

Getting ready for the book sale, the Friends are once again using the Rotary Interact students (for an honorarium) for setting out the books and later for re-boxing the left-over items. They will be stacking fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and must-have teenager selections for readers to select for their reading pleasure.

To get ready for the year ahead, the Friends have elected chair Terry Gerling, vice-chair Linda Miller, and the library's head librarian Alex Seaborn to be the secretary.

At that meeting, motions were made to spend some of the Friends’ money on various extras for the library, all items that will be cherished by library patrons, particularly the children. That’s how the proceeds of the book sales are used.
