Close games prevalent at Castlegar men's curling finals

Team Horning wins A finals

Men's curling has wrapped up another year at the Castlegar Curling Club.

On March 29, eight men’s teams came out of a week-long league playdown to battle in the finals where all of the games were close. 

Team Horning played a close game against Team Beaudry in the A final. It was neck and neck until Horning scored a few near the end of the game and Beaudry could not recover, leaving Team Horning – Deane Horning (skip), Bill Pottle (third), Wayne Salekin (second), (Craig Fines alternate), and Kelly Keraiff (lead) – with the A final win.

In the B final, Team van Yzerloo – Bill van Yzerloo (skip), Rob Babiarz (third), Rob Jolly (second), Russ Leslie (lead) and Devon van Yzerloo (alternate)
 – eventually topped Team MacKay.

Team Salviulo – Nando Salviulo (skip), Cooper Peloso (third), Kevin Maffioli (second), Sam Maffioli (lead) – had to take out Team Cutler's last rock to secure the win in the C finals.

The D finals, came down to the last rock and a measurement to decide the win for Team Swanson – Jim Swanson (skip), Theo Kooznetsoff (third), Dave Bullock (second), Bob Reid (lead).
