The Stanley Humphries Girls Curling Team participated in the B.C. High School Provincials during the week of Feb. 25 to March 1 in Kimberley.
This event provided the SHSS girls team with valuable foundational opportunities to develop their skills and learn about competitive curling. The team consisted of the following: skip Amira Meisel, third Chelsea Choi, second Ella Mohr and lead Sydney Lesy.
The competition facilitates positive interactions between the girls and teams from across the province. Girls teams from Chilliwack, Sardis, Burnaby, Castlegar, Kitimat, and Kamloops participated, with the Burnaby team ultimately winning the 2025 provincial title.
Plans are underway for the SHSS girls and boys teams to compete again next year in zone playdowns to earn a berth at B.C. High School Provincials being held in Chilliwack.
The Castlegar Curling Club executive and members are proud supporters of the junior curling program. Opportunities for next season include Learn to Curl, Junior Curling Academy, B.C. Winter Games in Trail, BC High School Provincials and Junior Bonspiels within Zone 1.
SHSS students can express interest to Jaydeen Ashton at SHSS, or students aged 10 and over can email barb@barbmackay.ca to be kept updated for season registration in late September 2025.
