The Blue River Community Association (BRCA) recently hosted a barbecue and potluck at the Blue River Community Garden on Sept. 28.
“The BRCA provided the burgers and dogs and our community members did the rest, filling the air with the smells of casseroles, soups, salads, pies and many more delicious dishes. The potluck was a feast enjoyed by all and we were celebrating Blue River’s community spirit. Conversations filled the air as we all enjoyed sharing stories with our meals. The Blue River Community Garden has become a beautiful space that thrives thanks to the ongoing commitment of volunteers who work to maintain and improve the space,” said Lee Onslow, Thompson Nicola Regional director for area ‘B’, (the Thompson Headwaters.)
Onslow added the garden has been supported financially through grants from the North Thompson Communities Foundation, Transmountain Community Investments and Cenovus Energy as well as donations of seeds from West Coast Seeds, something they have contributed to “for many years now,” said the director.
“We could not grow without our volunteers and our outside support and as a community we are so thankful to everyone who supports this incredible community garden,” said Onslow.
