Kamloops Outdoor Club members Roland and Anne Eave of Wells Gray Tours hosted an informative hiking tour in the Wells Gray Park from April 11 to April 13.
Wells Gray Tours was founded by the Roland in 1972, inspired by his desire to protect the natural environment and share his own explorations in Wells Gray Park. He and Anne have been dedicated to sharing their knowledge of the park with visitors, students and locals for many years.
The Neave family’s philanthropic endeavours include substantial endowments to Thompson Rivers University, the donation of private land for a research field station, and funding of Wells Gray Park’s naturalist program and trail crew underscore their dedication to education, environmental protection and community well-being.
Roland and Anne made the decision to donate 160 acres within Wells Gray Park to Thompson Rivers University in 2014, as a location for student research projects in biology, ecology, and geography. TRU named the property in honour of this special donation, and it is now known officially as the Neave Family Wetlands.
Roland is the author of Exploring Wells Gray Park which can be found on Amazon or purchased at the Wells Gray Visitor Information Centre on Highway 5 and Clearwater Valley Road in Clearwater.
