Thank you very much for your edition featuring Clearwater Hockey Days 2011! The Pee Wee Girls have had great response to their fundraising project Pennies For Pucks.

On Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, I listened to the nine a.m. news on Radio NL. Kamloops-North Thompson MLA (Liberal) Terry Lake was featured on that broadcast as supporting the sentiment that had allegedly been expressed to him by some of our fellow constituents: that the anti-HST-inspired MLA recall campaign opens the door for those who didn't vote in the last election to take away the voice of those that did vote in the last election.

In past years, I've offered up wish lists for our community. 2011 is a little different. This year marks the 100th anniversary of BC Parks, so in honour of that, I'm offering up a wish list for Wells Gray and North Thompson Provincial Parks.

In the Jan 10, 2011 issue of the Times one of the letters was about the plight of the wildlife in the brushed area around the town.

There is a joke (?) about a very devout man, sitting on the roof of his floating house. A boat comes to rescue him, but he sends it away saying “God will save me.” Three times this happens and he sends them away saying “God will save me,” but he drowns.

I would like to invite all members of the public to join the Community Forest Advisory Committee on Wednesday, Jan 26 at 7 p.m. in the Community Resource Centre.

There was a letter in last week’s issue titled “Party discipline is not a law.” The letter was a response to an opinion piece by Black Press columnist Tom Fletcher titled “The year of the independent MLA” that appeared on www.clearwatertimes on Dec. 29 but not in our print edition.
