Lake to head probe into sled-dog killings

Premier Gordon Campbell has appointed Kamloops-North Thompson Liberal MLA Terry Lake to lead a task force - which will include representation from the British Columbia Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BCSPCA) and Union of B.C. Municipalities - to review the circumstances related to the reported sled-dog killings in the Whistler area and to make recommendations to prevent such an incident from occurring again.

Regional district buys land in Louis Creek for Barriere eco-depot

Thompson-Nicola Regional District has purchased a parcel of land including the upper bench of the Louis Creek Industrial Area for the building of an eco-depot. An eco-depot is an improved way of managing solid waste by allowing users to separate recyclables and reusable materials from the waste stream before disposing the residual in a fully enclosed disposal building. It offers a “one stop drop” for all waste and recyclable materials.
