Unionized workers from Canfor-Vavenby were to meet on Sunday to discuss arrangements asked for by the company as a possible first step to reopening, according to a member of the Vavenby sub-local plant committee.

During a Jan. 27 meeting the Thompson-Nicola Regional District board adopted Avola Official Community Plan (OCP) and zoning amendment bylaws that will allow a towing and auto wrecking business in Avola. The amendments also realign an existing MH-1 (mobile home) zoning boundary on the property.
