Thirty people who have made extraordinary contributions to their communities were presented with King Charles Coronation Medals at a ceremony held at the Kelowna Springs Gold Course on May 28.
The Coronation Medal was created to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023.
During the second anniversary year, 30,000 medals will be awarded to deserving Canadians, 1,300 of which will recognize members of the RCMP, and 5,000 will honour members of the Armed Forces.
At the Kelowna RCMP celebration, Mounties clad in their red serge uniforms from across the Interior B.C. were honoured alongside civilian members of the police force's Southeast District RCMP E-Division.
Several ceremonies will be held across the province to honour citizens, members of the RCMP, members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have made a significant contribution to Canada or community.
The Government of B.C. has presented a total of 551 medals to the province's outstanding citizens.
