Nelson Tennis Club will host a Community “Try” Event on June 15, noon to 2 pm as a part of Tennis Month in Canada.
Created in collaboration with the provincial and territorial tennis associations, Tennis Month in Canada aims to inspire people of all ages and abilities across the country to participate in fun tennis events in their communities.
Nelson’s Community “Try” Event is a free, fun and welcoming event for all ages. Kids and adults can drop in, borrow equipment if needed, and take part in casual games, skill-building activities, and coaching sessions. It’s a great opportunity to experience tennis in a relaxed environment.
According to a 2024 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Global Tennis Report, Canada ranks second globally for the percentage of its population playing tennis at 12.8 per cent, and the total number of people playing tennis nationwide has risen to nearly five million. Gender equity in participation has also grown significantly, with 46 per cent of tennis players now identifying as women and girls, up from 29.2 per cent in 2021.
The Nelson Tennis Club looks forward to seeing you on the courts, located above L.V. Rogers, on June 15!
