Residents are asked to be aware of their water usage, as warmer weather has arrived.

Starting Sunday, June 1, Stage 1 water conservation measures will be in effect for all water systems operated by the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK). These measures will remain in place through September 30.

Stage 1 restrictions may be elevated to a higher stage if water demand increases significantly, hot and dry weather continues, or reservoir levels drop to critical lows.

Stage 1 watering guidelines:

• Lawn, garden, tree, and shrub watering is only allowed between 7 p.m. and 10 a.m.

• Watering with drip irrigation, a watering can, or a handheld hose is permitted at any time.
