Planned water outage coming for some Silver Star residents

The outage is scheduled for Monday, May 12, for Silver Queen Road residents

A planned water outage is scheduled to take place Monday for some customers supplied by the Silver Star utility.

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) and Interior Health said the outage will be for residents on Silver Queen Road starting May 12. The purpose of the outage is to repair a leak.

Silver Star Road residents are currently on a water quality advisory as a result of a temporary repair on May 7. See the map in the above photo gallery for the affected area.

The leak repair work is scheduled for May 12, which will cause a loss of water to residents from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This could be extended if unforeseen circumstances arise. It is suggested that residents store a short-term water supply for cooking and toilet use before the interruption.

When water service resumes, properties in the area may notice reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. They can run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred. Some customers may wish to boil their water for one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing teeth.

The RDNO will notify residents when the advisory is lifted.

Those with questions can call the RDNO utilities department at 250-550-3700.
