A late night crash closed Highway 97 Wednesday evening after a pedestrian was hit.
RCMP were called to the Stickle Road area north of Vernon around 11:40 p.m.
“The investigation determined the pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart northbound in the southbound lane of the highway when he was struck by the vehicle which was travelling south,” said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer.
The person was transported by BC Emergency Health Services for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the vehicle remained at scene and was co-operative with investigators.
A portion of Highway 97 was closed and traffic was detoured for several hours as the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service investigated.
