The Greater Victoria community is invited to participate in the annual Navy Bike Ride, an opportunity for the community to meet with the local members of the Canadian Armed Forces and learn about what they do while also having fun in exploring the city.

The casual ride in Esquimalt on Saturday, May 31, includes the 18 and 36-kilometre cruises throughout Esquimalt, Saanich, Victoria and the West Shore, along with the free kids Bike Rodeo at CFB Esquimalt.

Along with the rides, the Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre will be providing coffee and snacks, Capital Bike will provide bike valet services, along with more local vendors.

According to organizers of the race, they’ve seen the ride grow in popularity with 138 registered in 2024, and this year, they’re hoping for at least 150 registrations.

The kids' rodeo starts at 10 a.m., with the bike rides starting at 10:30 at Naden Building 5 in CFB Esquimalt. To register, or for more information, visit navybikeride.ca.

CFB Esquimalt reminds the public to watch out for cyclists and course marshals in Esquimalt, Victoria, Saanich, View Royal and Songhees Nation during the ride.

"Participants ... will be mostly following the Capital Regional District recreational corridor bike trail (E&N Rail Trail and Galloping Goose Trail) but will cross roadways in some locations," the public service announcement reads.
