Construction of Vernon's Active Living Centre is well underway, which begs the question: what should be done with the existing pool after the centre, which includes a new pool, is finished?
The city is asking the question to residents by launching a survey to gather input on how to re-purpose the Vernon Aquatic Centre.
“Public feedback will help shape how the Vernon Aquatic Centre space is used to meet community needs and ensure it provides necessary space for current and future services, programs or activities," said Shayne Wright, community recreation manager, in a media release.
The public survey is now open at engagevernon.ca/recreationcentre until Sept. 23.
Information booths will also be set up at various locations and events in the city to allow the public to speak with consultants or Recreation Services staff and learn more about the project.
Here are the dates, times and locations for the information booths:
• Sept. 10 open house — Kal Tire Place, Civic Room, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
• Sept. 13 pop-up booth — Village Green Shopping Centre, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
• Sept. 13 pop-up booth — Kal Tire Place South concourse, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
• Oct. 22 open house — Vernon Recreation Centre, 12-4 p.m.
• Oct. 23 open house — Vernon Recreation Centre, 4-8 p.m.
A Vernon Aquatic Centre Repurposing Study is expected to be completed by late fall this year.
