Freedom! What does it mean?
As the late George Carlin put it about Americans in the south pre-civil war, “They wanted to be free to own slaves.”
So what “freedom” do these fuel-burning, rubber-wearing, horn-honking protesters, who are not above desecrating the Tomb of Unknown Soldier or waving Nazi flags, want? Freedom to get COVID? Freedom to die of it? Freedom to be a complete fool?
Sure, perhaps these truckers have a legitimate claim in the way this whole vaccine thing has been handled, but think, even if it were all repealed, across the border in the US of A, the same rules apply, so what is the purpose of all this honking and yelling?
Perhaps like the 19th century when epidemics like cholera would sweep through the land, cannons would be discharged. Perhaps all this honking is supposed to scare the virus away?
One only has to look south of the border where this version of “freedom” has left Americans with almost three times the amount of corpses per population as Canada. One thing to note here: Among the Americans dead are four of the most vociferous right-wing anti-vaxxers.
And, where is all the money to finance this chaos coming from? Ten million and counting! Remember that screeching “build the pipeline” convoy that rushed off to Ottawa a couple years ago?
Never mind that, Trudeau brought them the TransMountain pipeline. They almost got it under Harper.
I do admit this is all speculation. Look, we are all tired of masks and vaccine protocols, but its not billing us, and it will pass some day.
And hopefully not leave too much death and destruction behind!
