To the editor,
A big shout out to the wonderful people of Avola and Clearwater, BC!
We broke down 60 kilometres east of Clearwater and fate would take us to Bill Ehlers’ road access in Avola off the Thompson Okanagan highway. This started a long and serendipitous series of events which all helped us get back on the road again.
Thanks to Laine (Avola) for the tow into town, Doug Braaten, our guardian angel, for orchestrating the truck’s repair, Michelle at Wells Gray Inn for opening the kitchen for a late bite to eat, Cassandra at the Clearwater Lodge for offering a part to be picked up in Kamloops and allowing a late check-out, Johnnie at Aspen Auto Parts for opening his shop on a Sunday morning and finally to Mark the mechanic who installed the water pump.
Collectively, you have restored our faith in humanity by going out of your way to help strangers.
