The Trail Smoke Eaters announced the signing of former Penticton Vees forward George Stavrianeas for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Stavrianeas is a 19-year-old forward from Brassard, Quebec who finished the 2024-25 season with the Penticton Vees.

"Our staff has followed George for some time now," said Smoke Eaters head coach and GM Tim Fragle in a release. "He will bring experience, has a strong IQ, is a 200-foot, detailed player that is difficult to play against.

Stavrianeas played 76 games with the Vernon Vipers over two seasons scoring 12 goals and 33 points before signing with the New Hampshire Mountain Kings of the NAHL in January 2025.

The five-foot-11, 190-pound left-shot player tallied 13 points in 10 games with the Kings before joining the Vees at the trade deadline in February, 2025. He added four assists in 13 games with Penticton.

"We believe he fits the Smoke Eaters mould and look for him to play a key role in the upcoming season."
