Trail RCMP are seeking an older model blue Chevrolet truck following an unusual incident on Sunday, June 8.
That morning, an officer responded to a report of a commercial vehicle theft from a business in the 5000 block of Highway 22.
According to police, a 66-year-old Vernon man had driven the commercial vehicle away from the business.
He was located shortly afterward by the responding officer, and the vehicle was returned to the business.
The officer spoke with the man before apprehending him under the Mental Health Act.
He was then transported to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for a medical assessment.
Trail RCMP are now searching for the man’s blue1995 Chevrolet truck, bearing B.C. licence plate WF2713.
The vehicle is possibly parked in the Trail area, according to the RCMP.
Anyone with information about the truck’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Trail detachment at 250-364-2566.
“We would like to return the vehicle to the man,” said Sgt. Mike Wicentowich. “And he would like to return home.”
