The Greater Trail Hospice Society has made a significant contribution to the Columbia View Lodge Palliative Care Room project, donating $75,555 raised through its own fundraising campaign.
The donation reflects the society’s ongoing commitment to supporting end-of-life care in the community.
Lisa Pasin, executive director of the KBRH Health Foundation, accepted the donation from Brenda Hooper, chair of the Greater Trail Hospice Society.
The funds will help advance the construction of specialized palliative care rooms at Columbia View Lodge, with completion expected this summer.
Once finished, the rooms are expected to enhance the quality of care and comfort for patients and their families.
The KBRH Health Foundation continues to actively fundraise to bring the project to completion.
Donations can be made online by selecting "CVL Palliative Care Rooms" at kbrhhealthfoundation.ca/donate-now. Supporters may also contribute to the Greater Trail Hospice Society through CanadaHelps.
This project first launched in 2024, when the Greater Trail Hospice Society pledged to fully renovate the two Community Palliative Rooms at Columbia View Lodge.
In partnership with the KBRH Health Foundation, the society set out to raise $90,000 to bring this vision to life.
“Our hospice volunteers frequently provide care in these palliative rooms, and they noticed the rooms were in need of some attention,” Hooper said when the project launched.
"They brought this to our board’s attention, and we immediately began collaborating with Columbia View Lodge and the KBRH Health Foundation to explore the possibilities.”
The planned upgrades include new flooring, beds, mattresses, improved lighting, fresh paint, window coverings, and a nutrition cart to support families.
Every donation will help transform these rooms into spaces of dignity, comfort, and care, Hooper added.
