The Ukrainian community of Chilliwack is inviting people to experience courage and creativity as they host a cultural event in June.
Documentary 'Life to the Limit' will be screened at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Friday, June 20. There will also be a Ukrainian art exhibition on display that night.
The Ukrainian film is described as a powerful and inspiring documentary that offers a rare opportunity to step into the lives of two Kyiv filmmakers who left their Oscar-nominated film to volunteer on Ukraine’s eastern front. Using their own footage and stories, the film shows the human cost of war and the strength that rises from tragedy.
The screening will be accompanied by a curated art exhibition featuring original works by Ukrainian artists displaced by the war – each piece telling a story of loss, hope, and renewal.
"This is more than a film – it is a cultural statement and an act of solidarity. We hope to share the true stories of Ukraine through the universal language of art and cinema, and we invite all residents of Chilliwack to stand with us in support," said organizer Iryna Kobets.
Most of the artwork has been donated and will be available for sale that night to support Ukraine.
"It will feature a beautiful collection of canvas prints from one of Ukraine’s most renowned artists, Katya Dudnik. Her work carries deep emotional meaning, and this is a unique opportunity for everyone to take home a piece of art filled with Ukrainian soul."
The screening of 'Life to the Limit' is presented by Go2Goal Inc. and takes place at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on June 20 at 5 p.m. People are encouraged to arrive early to view the artwork and hear from some of the speakers.
Tickets are $26.25 and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).
