Two new exhibits are opening at the Kootenay Gallery of Art this week.
Coinciding with Castlegar’s Sunfest, the West Kootenay Camera Club’s annual photography show returns to the gallery from June 5 to 14.
One of the gallery’s most popular shows, this exhibit feature’s works from West Kootenay Photographers on a variety of subject matter from wildlife and portraiture, to travel, abstract and landscape.
In addition to regular hours, the gallery will be open Sunday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Launching concurrently will be an installation of #hopeandhealingcanada by Metis artist Tracey-Mae Chambers.
The public is invited to the opening ceremony and opportunity to meet the artist on June 6 at 5 p.m.
A site-specific knit and crocheted outdoor installation that explores settler–Indigenous relations, this exhibition symbolizes history and hope, while serving as a catalyst for reflection on the ongoing process of dialogue surrounding decolonization.
Located on the gallery’s grounds, this outdoor exhibit will be on display from June 6 to Oct. 1.
The gallery and gift shop are open each week from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
