Live mural artist returns to Chilliwack Fair

Tommy Green will again create mural at fair, after painting water buffalo piece during 2024 Chilliwack Fair

A live mural artist will once again be part of the entertainment at the Chilliwack Fair.

Tommy Green will be creating a mural on-site at the 153rd annual Chilliwack Fair, which runs Aug. 8 to 10 at Chilliwack Heritage Park. It is his second time at the fair, having painted a mural there last year.

Fair organizers said Green is "thrilled" to return to the historic event where he will bring "his passion for wildlife, storytelling, and meaningful public art to life through a brand-new, large-scale mural created live on-site."

Deeply rooted in themes of animal conservation, sustainability, and environmental awareness, Green is known for his emotionally charged animal portraiture.

His public art portfolio includes a piece for the Chilliwack Mural Festival in 2022, a street banner design for Chilliwack’s 150th anniversary in 2023, a temporary mural for Restorative Cycles in 2023, and his 'Echoes of the Herd' mural of an African water buffalo painted at the 2024 Chilliwack Fair.

Green's studio work has also been featured in exhibitions such as Interpret – Creative and Performing Arts Festival in 2022, A Taste of the Valley in 2023, and the Emerging Printmakers Exhibition at Dundarave Print Workshop on Granville Island in 2023, where his linocut prints were showcased.

Since 2019, he has also been a familiar face at local art markets, sharing his work with the Chilliwack community and forming lasting connections through his bold, expressive style and dedication to wildlife conservation.

Green is a graduate of the University of the Fraser Valley, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2022, specializing in drawing and painting, print media and mixed media, sculpture, and extended media. He is also a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
