Clearwater Pitch In Day - a day of pride and community spirit

The District of Clearwater Community Pitch In Day is held each spring with groups and individuals volunteering to do some spring cleaning around town

Saturday April 26 was another bright spring day in the District of Clearwater with many volunteers showing up to meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Sportsplex for the annual Community Pitch-in day.

District of Clearwater councillor Theresa Braaten has coordinated the annual event for a number of years.

“It goes to show how much pride the residents have of our beautiful town when they all come together and utilize a fantastic sunny morning to make the town an even more beautiful, clean place to be," she told the surgeryitaly. "So many volunteers to thank including the Raft Mountain Skating Club, 4-H, Wells Gray Rotary Club to bring their groups together to ‘Pitch-In’ their support. We especially want to thank all of the individuals as well who are so appreciated for their great teamwork.”

Adding to the list of those she acknowledged, Braaten thanked the North Thompson Waste Management for bringing a brand new dumpster to use.

"It’s always wonderful to have Carol Hindle and her friends do their route and a big shout out to Carol for grabbing filled bags on the side of the road for me. Thanks to Mayor Merlin Blackwell for making sure the ‘dogs’ were hot and grilled to perfection, and everyone who just showed up to pitch right in taking pride in our town.”

Mayor Blackwell said, “Big thanks to councillor Theresa Braaten and staff for getting it all organized. We had a moderately good turnout. Many people now just go out and do their neighbourhood without checking in or coming for gloves and bags. Super grateful to everyone who did volunteer, especially the kids. “
