The Vernon Rowing and Dragon Boat Club (VRDBC) has made history.
At the Delta Deas Scholastic Regatta from May 24-25, nine Vernon rowers won medals, as they competed against 228 other crews across the province.
Day one action kicked off with Peter Masys and Leo Middlekamp dominating at the U17 men's doubles competition. They first won their time trial with a commanding three minutes, 40.41 second time and then secured gold in the final with an even better time of three minutes, 35.18 seconds.
In the mixed doubles, Cole O'Connor and Sierra Munroe were equally formidable, winning their heat before seizing the final victory.
Later in the day, Munroe teamed up with Aida Mills in the U19 women's pair. The duo won gold with a time of four minutes and .30 seconds.
O'Connor also added to his medal tally, this time teaming up with 16-year-old Ryland Holmgren to win the U19 men's double event.
Other impressive performances on the Saturday from VRDBC athletes included a 15th place from Amy Milne in the U19 women's single time trial, Anthony Masys third in his U15 men's single heat and Kate Green's sixth place in the women's novice singles final.
On Sunday, the Vernon team continued with their success, as Masys won gold in the U17 men's single event.
