A local of Predator Ridge was just one point back of a second place performance at the PGA of B.C. Women’s Championship.

Hosted at the Victoria Golf Club, the two round event from Sept. 25-26 was the final competition for women’s PGA golfers in B.C.

Kyla Inaba, who calls Predator Ridge resort home, finished in sixth position, with four competitors a point up, while the champion, Christine Wong dominated throughout.

The 17-person championships utilized Stableford scoring, where players accumulate points, depending on how they score on a specific hole. A birdie is worth three points, eagle four points, par two points, a bogey is one point, etc.

Wong’s 79 score was far and away the best, with the four-place tie for second nine points back at 70.

Inaba’s first round of 36 was tied for second, however on day two, despite starting with three consecutive birdies, she ended with four straight bogeys to finish with a 69 total.

A native of Vernon, Inaba is a golf professional at Predator Ridge and founder of Swing Like a Girl, a ladies only program at the resort. Formerly, she captained the UBC Thunderbirds golf team in post-secondary, after which she spent six years golfing professionally in the United States and Australia.
