Pullouts and roadside debris

I have a couple of complaints that I feel need to be vented.

Editor, The Times:

I have a couple of complaints that I feel need to be vented.

Wells Gray is known worldwide and people come all year long. Not so much in the winter, but they do come. They come to take pictures of frozen falls, for one. I am a local resident and still like going to the park. I have pictures of summer, fall and spring but none of winter when there is snow.

So, on a beautiful sunny Sunday we went for a drive hope to stop at Spahats Falls. The road was plowed but it just went straight up the highway. We could not even pull off and park safely and walk down to the falls.

Last year, there was a place for a couple vehicles to park and walk but it was not great for taking pictures, as there was little to no snow. To make things worse, we had to drive all the way to the Buffalo Ranch to turn around safely. Not one pullout was plowed. We couldn’t even stop for a picnic lunch. Very disappointing! What’s going on?

Secondly, I was brought up to do the best I could at whatever I was doing. I have tried my best to do this. Even when I had lousy job that was not all thrilling and the pay was ‘crap,’ I still the best I could. So here we are, wintertime and we have flyers delivered, sort of, to households.

Some residents have mailboxes; some have hooks for these bags to be put on. Unfortunately, I never see them used. The flyers are just chucked out at the end of the driveway. The snowplow comes along, plows them up and now when the snow melts, we are going to have a lot of paper litter around. And yes I could go out and get them, which I usually do, but if I am not home or don’t see them getting thrown out, how am I to know they are there? It’s not always on the same day each week. Or when it snows 10 inches and they are under all that snow, how am I supposed to see them?

I know this is a low paying job but it is a job that can be added to a resume later on in life because every job we do counts, even volunteer work. Take a little pride in what you do and you will notice how many people thank you for taking the extra time. I know I would!
