I am not shocked, but shocked at the same time that the discussion on upgrades to Carnarvon Park is still happening and yet nothing has really happened.
We've done the public consultation about the design, why is it happening again? Why are my taxpaying dollars going to another consultant, again? Is supporting consulting firms around B.C. a budget line item? Makes you wonder.
From a fiscal standpoint, this is a disaster. Rising costs on everything will severely impact the price of this project, but wait, let's take longer to follow through and have it be more expensive. Six years? It's laughable. More importantly, from a community point of view, this is shambolic – youth, now in high school, will never benefit from what could have been, despite advocacy for this project to get off the ground for years, Yes, years!
Whatever happens, I hope it's grand. Alas, my confidence in this council makes me believe it will not be the jewel it deserves to be.
