I am appalled at the way I was treated by a certain food store downtown in Vernon.
I parked in their parking lot to buy groceries and crossed the street to make an inquiry at another store, this took four or five minutes.
When I got back to the car, which had a ticket on the windshield for $86.50 which states 'Unauthorized parking,' I proceeded into the food store to buy groceries and also asked the assistant manager about the ticket and he said there are signs all over warning 'No walk offs' (what ever that means).
These signs are very long with fine print and most people don't have the time to read them.
Out of principle the ticket was not paid and the company, Diamond Parking, who issued the ticket followed up with an additional ticket of $126.50 one month later.
This looks like a great money-making venture by placing signs with long statements and vague statements like 'walk offs.'
I have talked to several people who did not understand the statement walk offs and also thought the food store is way out of line.
After all other major food stores do not have large parking lots like Safeway and Save On Foods.
There is an old saying: Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
