Editor, The Times:
Here is an email (see below) that I received recently from someone who attended the Provincial Peewee Girls championships held in Clearwater March 20 - 23.It was an outstanding week. The community has every reason to be proud of the Pee Wee Girls team. They dug deep at every possible moment and gave their all. Every game they continued to grow as players and on several occasions, gave the other teams something to possibly worry about. If the score could have reflected the pride that we had in the girls, it would have been a million points and more. Our visiting teams were so impressed with the level of play that the team extended and also impressed that even with a short bench and young players although we had the shortest bench of the tournament and likely some of the youngest players, the team stood tall amongst the other giant teams.
Our goaltending by Alli Borrow was awesome and I’m sure the coaches of the other teams wished they could have packed her in their suitcase. I wish I could say that other girls stood out individually but truth be told, it was a true team effort.
The visiting teams had nothing but good things to say about Clearwater and how welcoming we were as a community. They were touched by our thoughtfulness and mindful that it takes a community to host a Championship week. Some teams wished that they could have stayed longer and many expressed their interest in coming back in the summer. For those that toured the park, they were in awe of the spectacular sights.
All in all, the week couldn’t have been better and we have our entire community to thank for their involvement. I do hope that at some point, you might have room to include the small blurb in the paper along with photo that I sent of the girls presenting the $100 cheque to the Hospital Auxiliary. They worked hard collecting their pennies but also felt it important to give back to their community. In fact, Georgia McLellan was in the hospital for three days and it was loud and clear the benefits that patients are afforded in Clearwater thanks to the Hospital Auxiliary.
Thank you again for your continued coverage of the team.

Hello Clearwater Minor Hockey,
I would like to congratulate all the volunteers for the first class hospitality. They went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and wanted. Everyone was treated in a very friendly manner. So, hats off to all the volunteers. Clearwater you have something to be proud of, as I have been attending B.C.’s finals since 1972.
