July 22, 1948 - April 11, 2025
It is with shock and disbelief that the family of Jim Lamberton announces his sudden and unexpected death on April 11, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents Louise and George, brothers Albert and John, niece Beverly, and grandson Damon. He leaves behind his heartbroken family, loving wife Rosalind, son Jim, daughter Jennifer, and many grandchildren, aunts, cousins, great nieces and nephews and one great granddaughter.
Jim was raised on a huge farm near Celista in the idyllic North Shuswap. Childhood summers were filled with swimming in the lake, fishing, and going everywhere barefoot. He loved playing baseball, and later became excellent at both baseball and darts. Later he became a highly skilled faller, at first working with his brothers, but also with other contractors in the North Thompson and Shuswap areas. Then he formed his own company and worked mainly in the Fraser Canyon, often under very dangerous conditions. In l996, Jim decided to leave the logging industry and he became a highly successful realtor. His warmth, humor, professionalism, and integrity gained him many close friends along the way.
After retirement, Jim and Rosalind went fishing, camping, RVing, and hunting at every opportunity. He was a marvellous hunter, (having started at the tender age of ten) and the freezer was always full of the most tender meat imaginable. He also thoroughly enjoyed writing letters to the editor, usually with humor and always with a strong sense of justice The Rambling Man is legendary, his laughter infectious, his loyalty unending, and his quick wit will never be forgotten. He was the best friend anyone could ever have. Jim was a very special man, and his heartbroken family will miss him and love him for ever and ever and a day. The road goes on forever and the stories never end.
Heartfelt thanks go to the doctors, paramedics, and members of the Blackpool Fire Dept. for all of their efforts to safe Jim's life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Clearwater at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please support the Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Jim's memory.
