Kevin Deckert and Les Sakals were honoured on June 20 with a plaque for their 40 years of dedicated service as members of Wells Gray Search and Rescue. The ceremony in Clearwater was attended by family members and colleagues.
Deckert said, "After 40 years many people ask the same question that I ask myself, trying to think of an answer that is easy to understand. A wise man once told me to 'find something that needs doing that will benefit others and do it to the best of my ability' and that seems to be the core of the motivation. However it is the people I have met along the journey who make up our SAR team who also give the best they can, That inspires me to continue. I am here because they are here."
