Vernon homeowners now have access to personalized support to make their places more energy-efficient and comfortable.
And the support won't cost a dime if you're among the first to register.
A new partnership between the City of Vernon and the B.C.-based non-profit Community Energy Association (CEA) has resulted in the Retrofit Assist program being made available free of charge to residents within the city.
This innovative service provides personalized, impartial guidance on home energy improvements, connecting residents with trusted local professionals and ensuring they can access the latest available rebates and financial incentives," said the city. "The program has already supported hundreds of homeowners across the province in making cost-effective upgrades."
Retrofit Assist is designed to simplify the process of home retrofits — particularly for those planning renovations, replacing aging systems like furnaces, or considering general energy upgrades but unsure where to begin.
The city views this initiative as a key tool in supporting residents on their journey toward more sustainable living.
The program also aligns with Vernon’s Climate Action Plan, which sets a long-term goal for all existing buildings to become energy efficient, utilize zero-carbon energy systems, and be resilient to climate change impacts by 2050.
"Providing dedicated support to homeowners is an important step toward achieving that vision," said the city.
The first 25 eligible applicants who sign up at retrofitassist.ca will receive the service free of charge, with funding provided by the City of Vernon.
In addition to supporting homeowners, CEA collaborates with the local construction industry to ensure contractors have access to training and professional development. This dual focus not only improves the retrofit experience for residents but also supports local economic development.
