The members of the Vavenby Fire Department would like to thank the Wells Gray Community Forest Society (WGCFS) for their generous donation of $15,000 for the purchase of some upgraded rescue equipment.

The Vavenby Fire Department provides road rescue from Birch Island north to Albreda on Highway 5, and along all Forest Service Roads in between. With the money provided by WGCFS, new backboards and a basket were purchased, as well as a battery-operated hydraulic ram.

These items will go a long way in helping the fire department provide essential services to the public in the future.
