Valemountain Days 2025 will be taking place from June 13 to June 15 this year and the spirit around town is amping up for “a ton of fun,” said Laura Keil, board member for the event organizing committee on the Valemount Community Sports Days Association.
“There are so many things taking place this year during the Valemountain Days," Keil told Black Press Media on June 8. "We will have a petting zoo, pony rides, Uncle Chris the Clown, and stock car racing as well. I’m really proud of the work we have all done this year and excited because there will be something for everyone to enjoy throughout the weekend of activities.”
Valemountain Days has been an annual celebration for more than 40 years, Keil added.
“We have local musicians playing, street dancing downtown, a bouncy castle, face-painting, logger sports, and many venues serving up delicious food. It’s been a tradition for a long time, in fact hearkening back to the early 60s even prior to incorporation. It’s a time for everyone to come together – everyone in town gets excited and happy as the weekend approaches. We have great accommodations, camping and a variety of restaurants and businesses gearing up for our favourite summer weekend and we hope people will travel in to join us!”
Keil hopes this year will attract not only locals but other visitors and tourists to the area following a devastating decline in tourism due to the Jasper fire of 2024 which greatly impacted the tourism the town relies upon when evacuees from Jasper made their way to the area seeking refuge for weeks following the wildfire that closed the highway forcing residents south along Highway 5.
“It’s been great to see more visitors stopping in this year and we are looking forward to welcoming them to join in our celebrations during Valemountain Days this year and explore the beauty of the surrounding area,” said Keil.
