Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen holds wildfire resiliency events

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen and Diamond Head Consulting Ltd. will host a series of open house events about wildfire resiliency planning.

Diamond Head Consulting Ltd. has been selected by the regional district to create a Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan for Electoral Areas B, C, D, E, F, G and H.

The events will be informal and participants can drop in to view displays, ask questions and speak with the project team. There are no formal presentations at any of the events.

Three open house events are planned.

On June 12, an open house will be held at the Princeton FireSmart office, 111 Vermillion Ave., Princeton from 4 to 7 p.m. This covers Area B (Cawston and Lower Similkameen), Area G (Rural Keremeos, Hedley and Olalla) and Area H (Rural Princeton Tulameen, Coalmont and Eastgate)

On June 20, an event will be held at the regional district main office, 101 Martin St., in Penticton from 5 to 8 p.m. This is for Area E (Naramata) and Area F (Greater West Bench, Rural Summerland and Okanagan Lake West.)

On June 21, an open house will be held at the Okanagan Falls Fire Department, 5013 11 Ave., in Okanagan Falls, from 5 to 8 p.m. This is for Area C (Rural Oliver) and Area D (Skaha East and Okanagan Falls.)
