Incidents like this are rare in Clearwater and there is usually a connection. It was evident the suspect(s) knew what was there and when the owners would be out. If anybody has any information about who is responsible for the thefts, please contact Clearwater RCMP.

Joint before work

Last week a person was stopped on the highway because officers wanted to talk to him about a prior incident. Immediately upon talking to the driver the officer noticed signs of drug use. Tests were conducted and he was prohibited from driving for 24 hours.

Initially the driver said he hadn’t consumed any drugs as he was on his way to work. That turned out to be not the case. Not only was this driver putting others on the road at risk but, depending on his job description, he could have been putting his coworker’s safety in jeopardy as well.

Marijuana grow operation busted in McLure

On June 20, RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Christison Road in McLure. Once on the property police found over 200 marijuana plants and almost four pounds of marihuana bud. Two persons were on the property at the time and one is facing charges.

Members from Southeast District Traffic Services, Central Interior Traffic Services and the Barriere Detachment executed the warrant. A total of 236 plants were found. About 100 were clones and the remainder were mature plants with bud.

One male (47) is facing charges of production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He will be attending court in Kamloops on Aug. 29. The plants were found in a shed, a small green house and outside.
