“Please restrain your water use during B.C. Hydro’s scheduled power outage on Sunday, Aug. 28,” asks Leslie Groulx, District of Clearwater’s interim chief administrative officer.
The power utility plans to turn off electrical power to Clearwater and surrounding area from 6 a.m. to noon on that day in order to make electrical system improvements.
Unfortunately, the district does not yet have a backup generator to power the pumps in its wells, said Groulx.
That means water users would be entirely dependent on the gravity-fed system from the creeks behind the ski hill – which might not be enough.
Summer water restrictions mean only those with even-numbered street addresses will be able to water on that day.
Usually sprinkling is allowed only from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. and from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. on alternate days.
