It is just in its third year, but Vernon Pride Week will be showing its true colours starting Monday, Aug. 12 for six days of events.
It all gets started on Monday, with the raising of the Pride flag at Vernon City Hall at 1 p.m. Queer Rock Climbing will follow, from 6- 8 p.m. from The Rock Garden.
Drag bingo will take place on Tuesday, hosted by Rebellious Unicorns in the 19 plus event starting at 6:30 p.m. from Elks Hall.
For the puppy lovers, the pride pups dog park meetup will be at the BX Ranch Dog Park from 7-8:30 p.m on Wednesday.
Rainbow Storytime from the Vernon Library is set for Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A 2-Spirit, Trans, Non-Binary storytelling night will take place at the Caetani Centre, from 6-8 p.m.
Friday is the big Pride in the Park at Polson, where there will be four hours (4-8 p.m.) of performances, along with the Polson Market.
Saturday is a jam-packed day of fun. It will kick off with the Vernon Pride March at Civic Memorial Park, from 11-11:30 a.m. as art, games, activities, and non-profit booths will occupy the park throughout the day (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
In the night, a drag show, hosted by Whalemade- For the Love of Drag, takes place at 7 p.m. from the Schubert Centre. DJ Miss Demeanour will close out the night with the Pride Dance Party starting at 10 p.m., at a location soon to be announced.
Last but not least, Sunday will have a more chill vibe, with a pride meditation at the Caetani Centre beginning at 2:30 p.m. The Qmunity 55 plus queer beach event will take place from 3-5:00 p.m.
