Environment Canada has issued an alert for southwestern B.C. and the West Kootenays as temperatures this week are expected to reach above 30 C.
The alert was issued this morning, June 8, and temperatures are anticipated to remain high early into the week.
People are advised to watch out for heat related illness. Symptoms can include heavy sweating, rash, cramping, and fainting.
To help combat the heat, Environment Canada advised people to cover windows with blankets or curtains to block sunlight. Fans can be used to help draw cold air in from outside.
