Mark the second weekend of May on your calendar.

On Saturday, May 12, Thompson-Nicola Regional District will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Round-up in Clearwater.

The event will give residents an opportunity to safely and properly dispose of products, such as paint, mercury, pesticides, oil, and propane tanks, that are banned from TNRD landfills. Product stewards, such as B.C. Used Oil Management Association, have been invited to participate.

TNRD will hold a Free Dump Day on Sunday, May 13, at the Clearwater landfill and the Blue River transfer station.

During a Free Dump Day, residents can bring in up to $20 worth (essentially a big pickup load) of waste for free. Regular tipping fees apply for loads over the $20 limit. The event is for residential customers only - regular tipping fees apply to commercial, business or municipal loads.

A Free Dump Day also will be held on Sunday, May 6, at the Barriere landfill and Black Pines transfer station.
