Canoe Regatta coming soon

The third annual Clearwater Canoe Regatta will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 and 10, at Dutch Lake beach

Have you made plans to participate in the third annual Clearwater Canoe Regatta?

The event will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 and 10, at Dutch Lake beach.

The fun will start off with a new event: the first annual Rusty Racquet Tennis Round Robin at Rotary Sports Park. Games will be played Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, Sept. 7, 8 and 9. Deadline to register is Aug. 31.

Friday, Sept. 9, things will get going 5:30 p.m. with the Try The Tri for the youngsters.

A beach jamboree will follow, with the crowning of the Golden Gal Award at 6:30 p.m. - honoring a pioneer woman who has excelled in her volunteer contributions.

The Wild and Wacky Scavenger Hunt for teams of six people will take place from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Saturday’s action will start at 9:30 a.m. with the Rotary Relay Challenge.

Other events on the schedule include the Kids and Family race around the island, the Swimmers’ Relay, and the Canoe Relay and Challenge.

At 4 p.m. the Salsa Competition will determine who has the best zip and zest that goes with chips. The Regatta To Chef Dessert Competition will follow at 4:30 p.m.

A Salmon Bake dinner will be held at 5 p.m. (by donation).

Drummers from Simpcw First Nation will close out the day at 6 p.m.
