Acid spill closes Highway 5

Traffic on Highway 5 was closed in both directions after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a van near Raft River in Clearwater.

A semi carrying acid blocks Highway 5 east of Raft River Bridge in Clearwater on Sunday afternoon. Two occupants of a van that was involved in the collision were taken to hospital while the driver of the semi reportedly walked away. The highway was blocked from about 11:30 a.m. and as of the middle of the afternoon it was not clear when it would re-open. Traffic was being diverted at Little Fort and Valemount. Agencies on scene included RCMP

The highway was closed from 11:30 a.m. Traffic was diverted at Little Fort and Valemount.
