The Salmon Arm Silverbacks fell just short in the first game of their BCHL playoff series against the Sherwood Park Crusaders, losing 3-2 in overtime.

The back-and-forth affair started with a tie in the first as the 'Backs lit up the board first on a solid shot from Liam Bursaw, with Payton Nelson and Tanner Walos picking up the assists. The Crusaders replied with a goal of their own just minutes later.

Sherwood Park followed that up at 0:39 into the second for the only marker of the frame to take a 2-1 lead.

The 'Backs owned the third period, however, with Roenick Jodoin scoring the lone goal, forcing the extra frame, which the Crusaders shut down on a power play at the 4:37 mark.

Though the game was punctuated by a number of penalties, it was reportedly an accidental hook-up that required medical intervention after two players slammed into the boards.

"Scary scene tonight at the Silverbacks game," Nathan McCaw said in a social media post. "Players got tied up going into the boards and paramedics had to come on scene."

The second game in the series is again on home ice at Rogers Rink with the puck drop at 6 p.m.
